Tamarindo, located on the majestic Pacific coast, is the ultimate surfing destination. This small town in Guanacaste gained worldwide fame in the 1970s when international surfers began visiting its beaches in search of the perfect waves.

Its reputation grew even more in the 1990s thanks to the movie Endless Summer II, which captured the attention of surfers from all over the world.
With its warm and sunny climate, Tamarindo is ideal for surfers of all levels. Additionally, it is home to Las Baulas National Marine Park, where you can witness leatherback turtles nesting. Its vibrant nightlife, world-class restaurants, and unique shops make Tamarindo a perfect place to relax.

From Argentina to Tamarindo: The Story of Mai Ke Kai Surf House

Welcome to Mai Ke Kai Surf House, the dream come true of Maria and Matias. We are two passionate surfers from Argentina who, driven by our love for Costa Rica and its unparalleled waves, moved to Tamarindo and created this space in 2023.

Our adventure in Costa Rica began in 2019 when we first visited Jacó and Manuel Antonio. We were fascinated by the warm, crystal-clear waters of the Costa Rican Pacific and were amazed by the massive waves in Jacó. After working hard in the United States for a few years, we realized that life in Costa Rica is enjoyed in a unique way. The tranquility, abundant nature, and the relaxed attitude of the people captivated us deeply.

Due to the pandemic, we returned to Córdoba, Argentina, but we have always been travelers at heart and knew we wouldn't stay there given the situation in the country. Costa Rica, one of the few countries open during the pandemic, became our final choice, reinforced by the "pura vida" philosophy that is lived here.
With a deep love for the sea and an immense passion for surfing, we founded Mai Ke Kai Surf House to offer our guests a refuge where they can disconnect from their daily obligations and material worries. Our goal is to provide a unique experience that combines the tranquility of the natural environment with the excitement of surfing.

Nestled in a coastal paradise, Mai Ke Kai Surf House is much more than just accommodation. It is a place where you can relax, reconnect with nature and yourself in a cozy and safe environment, enjoying the waves, the sun, and the beach.

The essence of "pura vida" took us some time to fully understand, but now we live and promote this concept—everything is calm, everything in its own time. This philosophy is reflected in every corner of our surf house and in every experience we offer to our guests.
